What is localme?
Our platform facilitates cultural exchange by connecting locals offering unique activities with travelers craving memorable and authentic experiences. After registering as a local you can upload activities to our platform and travelers can book these activities. You decide on the price for your activities and you get 100% of that price. localme charges travelers a booking fee on top of that price.
Why we are different
We help you to reach travelers from all over the world while giving you all the freedom you need to design great activities. We help you with everything from activity creation to communication with travelers to building trust through our review system. You get exactly the price you request directly from the traveler. Using localme is 100% free for you.
How to get started
Create your first activity
We encourage you to upload your first activity as soon as possible.
Let's talk
Once you submitted your first activity for review, we schedule a video call where we can get to know you better and verify your identity.
Go live
We review your activity and activate it. Your activity is now visible to travelers all over the world.
Creating an activity
Do
- Include accurate and helpful information on your profile and activity page
- Upload a profile photo preferably of your face where you are recognisable
- Create an activity that is unique and offers something special (make even the typical tourist attractions special in some way, for example: be knowledgeable, know the history and the fun facts)
- Upload at least 3 (5 or more is recommended) good quality photos for your activity
- Upload photos that are related to your activity (e.g. photos of the places you will visit or photos from previous activities)
- Ask permission from your travelers to use the photos they made during your activity on the website
- Fill out your activity page providing as much information as you can, including; what to bring, what is included in the price, how to get prepared to the activity, or any other relevant information that affects the activity
- Do some research on your competitors in order to find the right pricing
- Remember Localme puts an additional booking fee (currently 11%) on your price that will be the final price visible for the travelers (you will always get paid the price you requested)
Don't
- Include false or inaccurate information on your profile or activity page
- Copy activities from other locals or websites
- Upload blurry, too small, or bad quality photos
- Upload photos unrelated to your activity
- Upload photos you do not own or you do not have permission to use (including photos of travelers)
- Promise anything you cannot keep
- Overprice your activity as it might badly affect the number of bookings
- Underprice your activity as it might badly affect your revenue
Once your activity is public
Travelers look for activities
Travelers browse our library of activities and find your activity.
They can ask questions and communicate with you directly on the activity page.
Travelers send a booking request
You get a booking request when a traveler wants to participate in your activity at a certain date and time.
Answer the booking request
Given that the requested date and time works for you, you can now accept the booking request. If not, you can discuss alternative dates with the traveler using the chat.
Traveler finalizes the booking
The traveler pays the booking fee to localme to confirm the booking.
We make your phone number available to the traveler before the activity.
Enjoy the activity with the traveler
Create a lasting experience for the traveler during the activity.
The traveler pays you at the end of the activity.
Get a great review
We will encourage the traveler to leave a review that is visible on our site.
Before the activity
Do
- Check your account regularly for new booking requests or messages (we will send you email notifications as well)
- Answer questions and booking requests as quickly as possible but at least within 24 hours. Remember, the faster you react to travelers' inquiries the more likely they are to book your activity.
- Get in touch with the traveler before the activity to discuss any details like the exact meeting point
- Instead of denying a booking request, try to talk to the traveler and offer alternative dates
- If you have to deny a booking request, explain the reason to the traveler
- Inform the traveler if there are any changes related to the booked activity
Don't
- Exchange contact details (email address, phone number, website) with the traveler. Sharing contact details can result in the inactivation of your account.
- Promise anything you cannot keep
During the activity
Do
- Make sure you are at the meeting point on time
- Be creative and make the activity interesting and enjoyable, createing life-long memories for travelers
- Be trustworthy and consistent with the activity description
- Be cooperative and flexible and help the traveler to get a great experience
- Be passionate about your activity. Show your love for your country/region and your culture/people.
- Be knowledgeable about the activity. Share your knowledge about your culture, history, people, nature, and wildlife, or whatever your activity is about.
- Do your best to enjoy the activity as well! Learn and share each other's culture
- Get your payment after the activity. Only ask for a partial prepayment if it is required for bookings or buying tickets etc.
- Follow our advice to get good reviews and recommendations, generating trust and credibility, and increasing your chances of future bookings
Don't
- Be late
- Modify or exclude things from the activity. We know that some flexibility is needed, so when it is necessary make sure you communicate openly with the traveler ahead of the activity.
- Copy other activities and tours. Introduce the traveler into your own culture, beliefs, and the everyday life of the people of your community
